Job Description
Mainly deployed on clinical and non-clinical duties in the following programme areas:
(a) statutory functions;
(b) disease prevention;
(c) health promotion;
(d) curative care; and
(e) rehabilitation.
(Remarks: Selected candidates may be required to work shifts outside normal working hours and perform on-call duties.)
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have –
(a) a medical qualification registrable in Hong Kong under the Medical Registration Ordinance, Cap. 161;
(b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 1 or above results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent ; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English; and
(c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST).

For eligible non locally-trained doctors, a new Special Registration pathway under the Medical Council of Hong Kong is available for you to apply full registration after obtaining specialist qualification in Hong Kong. If a non locally-trained doctor is employed as a Medical and Health Officer, Department of Health will offer the same civil service status and benefits as locally trained doctors.)
Terms of Appointment
A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years, during which the new recruit is expected to complete the Basic Specialist Training (BST) and pass all related examination(s). Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing agreement terms or permanent terms depending on the officer’s progress on completion of BST as appropriate.
Salary
Master Pay Scale Point 32 ($77,855) to Master Pay Scale Point 44B ($132,275) per month
