We are seeking an experienced Registered Safety Officer to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety of our large-scale civil construction projects in accordance with all relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety management plans for civil construction projects
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address potential safety risks
- Provide training and guidance to site personnel on safety protocols and procedures
- Investigate and document all incidents and accidents, and take corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure compliance with all relevant safety legislation
- Prepare detailed safety reports and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture
Qualifications and Experience:
- Registered Safety Officer with a minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience in the civil construction industry
- Thorough understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, including the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing safety programs on civil construction projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Driver License would be a plus.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in occupational health and safety or a related field would be highly regarded
