Job Description:
As the Head of Quantity Surveying, you will be responsible for overseeing the QS department, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget. Your expertise in project management and cost control will be essential as you collaborate with various teams to optimize resources and drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quantity Surveying team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Oversee the preparation of accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for projects.
- Manage contracts, negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress and costs, implementing strategies to mitigate risks and manage variances.
- Conduct value engineering and cost-benefit analyses to enhance project value.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide strategic input in project planning and execution, particularly for projects in China.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, with a focus on property development - Client Side.
- Proven experience managing large-scale projects in China is essential.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Good command of English, Cantonese AND Mandarin.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional membership or certification (e.g., MHKIS, MRICS) is preferred.
