About the Role
The Project Manager, In-Plant Printing (IPP) is an experienced professional responsible for leading IPP projects within customer manufacturing environments. The role encompasses proposing, planning, executing, and delivering in-plant printing solutions, ensuring that projects meet deadlines, budget constraints, and quality standards. The Project Manager will collaborate across various functions within the company and engage directly with customers. Essential skills include strong project management experience, a basic understanding of thermal printing technology, revenue and stock review and reporting, and excellent stakeholder management abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Proposal, Planning & Execution
Prepare IPP solution proposals for sales teams, including machines, raw materials, consumables, and maintenance.
Define project scope, deliverables, detailed project plans, capacity, and resource requirements and budgets; monitor progress.
Execute projects according to plan, resolve issues and provide regular status reports to management and sales teams.
Track ongoing stock and reordering, report and analyse IPP revenue.
IPP Go-to Person
Collaborate with product experts and operations teams to advance IPP solution offerings across product lines.
Serve as the primary contact for the sales team regarding IPP opportunities.
Support sales and product experts in qualifying and converting IPP opportunities.
Manage IPP project execution, including:
Printing capability and capacity planning, preparation of raw materials, consumables, and machines.
Supervise engineering and maintenance teams for installation and commissioning of printers and label applicators.
Arrange user training for both the online order system and IPP solution operation.
Budget & Vendor Management
Prepare and manage project ROI and budgets; report variances and justify capital expenditures.
Work with operations and sourcing to select external vendors, manage contracts, and oversee vendor performance during installation and service.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide regular status updates during projects and deliver post-project handover documentation and training.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Packaging Technology, or related discipline preferred. Relevant technical diplomas with substantial experience are also accepted.
At least 5 years of project management experience in printing, labeling, packaging, or industrial manufacturing; experience in IPP is highly preferred.
Hands-on familiarity with thermal printing technologies is advantageous.
Experience with PLCs, basic automation integration, and vendor equipment commissioning.
Knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001, GS1/barcode standards, and relevant industry regulations.
Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve results.
