Duties
Reporting to the Technical Manager of Cable Car Operations (CCO) Department, you will be responsible for the following:
Provide engineering / technical support to ensure satisfactory performance of cable car assets throughout the asset life and fulfilling safety and reliability objectives
Initiate and manage major replacement, overhaul or improvement works on electrical/mechanical systems from cradle-to-grave including design, development, procurement, contract management, testing and commissioning, and update of O&M documents, etc.
Lead fault & failure trend analysis and incident investigation, and develop improvement solutions and modifications to drive for continuous improvements on safety, reliability, maintenance planning and activities of the cable car systems
Conduct technical reviews / studies / audits on cable car systems and maintenance activities and identify improvement opportunities
Take a leading role to liaise with external stakeholders, especially EMSD, overseas experts, manufacturers, consultants, and specialist contractors, on technical issues and delivery of effective on-site services or remote supports.
Be forward looking on exploring potential risks/challenges on system performance and keep exploring improvement opportunities on O&M activities.
Acquire Competent Person qualification to oversee cable car O&M activities according to EMSD requirements
Develop training materials, conduct technical trainings and develop the assessment methods to enhance the competency of CCO staff and to ensure that the relevant technical/maintenance standards, instructions and statutory requirements are fully met and the quality workmanship is persistently maintained
Offer advice to the development, quality control and verification of internal documents and procedures
Provide support on the implementation of the asset, safety and quality management system
Requirements
Degree or above in Mechanical, Marine, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline
Qualifications of RPE or Chartership of a relevant engineering institution is preferred
Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in managing engineering projects, operations and maintenance of engineering systems of which 2 years should be at managerial level
Experience in project work or maintenance of cable car or similar systems, in particular on steel wire ropes, gearboxes, traction sheaves, drive & brake system and tower structures is a definite advantage
With good sense of accountability and in particular a high sense of safety
Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese are essential
Good people management skill is necessary
