The appointee will be responsible for
(a) assisting researchers with experimental setup and troubleshooting;
(b) liaising with campus management, safety office, and laboratory animal service for inspections and operations;
(c) communicating with other departments to manage facility bookings and payment, and co-ordinate animal housing;
(d) assisting with imaging and electrophysiological data collection from mice;
(e) maintaining an organised laboratory environment, and collaborating with the research team to improve protocols and workflows;
(f) assisting in the regular maintenance of devices, including IT and laboratory equipment management, website and application updates;
(g) providing IT support in events and functions; and
(h) performing other duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Applicants should have
(i) a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences or a related discipline;
(ii) at least 2 years’ working experience in IT support, and/or facility and equipment management;
(iii) good knowledge of operating systems, networks, common applications, and CMS operations like WordPress or Drupal;
(iv) strong troubleshooting techniques;
(v) excellent organisational skills, strong communication skills and a sense of responsibility;
(vi) the ability to learn operation of new equipment/programs quickly; and
(vii) the ability to work under deadlines with general guidance. Having experience with image/electrophysiological data acquisition system will be advantageous.
Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
