Mr. Lai Kam Tong

K.T. is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Director and Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management.  He is an experienced people management facilitator with a passion to help corporations build their organizational and human resource capability.

He has accumulated over 47 years experience in people management.   He retired from the CLP Group, the parent company of the China Light & Power Group in early 2008. At time of retirement, he was the Group Human Resources Manager of CLP Holdings, Ltd., managing the Group’s remuneration and benefits policies including those for the Group's senior executives and the Group’s human resources information system.  He was also involved in the implementation and communication of the Group’s annual organizational performance review at corporate levels.

In his over forty-seven years’ career as an human resources professional, K.T. has gained extensive experience and thorough understanding and development of human resource strategy particularly in the areas of remuneration management, performance management, employee engagement, talent management and  development as well as succession planning

K.T. currently is the Independent Non-Executive Director of American International Assurance (Trustee) Ltd. and Independent Manager of the Incorporated Management Committee, The Church of Christ in China Kei San Secondary School.  He was the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management during June 2005 and June 2008, chair of the Remuneration Committee, co-chair of the MPF Taskforce and the Employee Relations Committee of the Institute.  He also facilitated the Institute to develop the Institute's Human Resources Professional Model during 2006–2009 when he was the Present of the as well as the Chair of the HR Professional Standard Committee of the Institute.

He was the Acting Chair of the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, member of the Remuneration Committee of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.  He has been appointed to serve as Specialist (Business & Management) of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic Vocational Qualifications and member of the Task Force on Professional Development of Teachers. He also gives lectures regularly at the University of Hong Kong, School of Professional and Continuous Education, the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service Institute, the Hong Kong Jockey Club College and other education institutes on human resource management related programs, and  speeches as a guest speaker for local universities and professional bodies.

He also actively serves the community and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Human Resources Committee and Co-opt Member, Executive Council of Hong Kong Red Cross, member of the HR Committee and Executive Council of the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, member of HR Committee of Hang Seng Management College and the Hong Kong Ballet, consultant of the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association and the Management Committee of Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association Ltd., Special Adviser of the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.

K.T. holds a MBA degree from the Open University of Macao.
