Responsibilities

• Assisting in managing the product development process, coordinating tasks, setting timelines, and tracking progress. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of lighting products

• Collaborate closely with international clients to develop lighting items based on their specific requirements. Monitor project progress, review and report updates to maintain client satisfaction, and ensure timely project delivery

• Maintain regular communication with suppliers to track project milestones and ensure that development progress aligns with customer expectations. Follow up on a daily basis to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the project

• Collaborating with design and engineering teams to translate product concepts into tangible designs. Providing input and feedback during the design process to ensure functional and aesthetically appealing lighting products

• Participating in the prototyping and testing phase of new lighting products. Working closely with the engineering team to refine designs, address technical challenges, and ensure product performance and compliance with safety standards

• Researching and selecting suitable materials, components, and technologies for lighting products. Considering factors such as durability, energy efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability

• Creating detailed product documentation, including specifications, bill of materials, and manufacturing instructions. Ensuring accurate and comprehensive information is provided to support production and quality control processes

• Ensuring lighting products meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements. Staying informed about safety regulations, energy efficiency guidelines, and environmental certifications to guide product development decisions

• Conducting market research and competitor analysis to identify market opportunities, consumer preferences, and competitive advantages. Utilizing insights to inform product positioning, price points, and marketing strategies

• Conducting research on technologies, design trends, and user preferences to inform product development

• Collaborating with internal teams and operations to align product development plans with business objectives

Requirement

• DSE / Form 5 or above

• At least 4 years in Product Design, with at least 8 years’ experience already working in furniture and/or OEM lighting design and development

• Good understanding of how products are manufactured and assembled, ideally within the lighting and/or furniture industry. They should also have a grasp of three dimensional modelling software, ideally using Solidworks competently. Understanding of how a product can be developed into components which are optimized for mass production, producing technical drawings and liaising with suppliers to turn these into a commercial offering

• Closely communicate with all parties, including the original designers, factory engineers, packaging suppliers, testing house engineers as well as our European buyers and development office in London

• Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is also a must for helping to produce artwork for instruction booklets and packaging when required

• Willing and able to travel to Mainland China, and have a firm grasp of both verbal and written Chinese and English. Prior experience in merchandising and buying is a bonus and ideal candidates would benefit from having this prior knowledge, handling orders with buyers in Europe and vendors in mainland China
