Responsibilities
Responsible for fabric development and counter sourcing of Denim, Woven and jersey knit fabrics
Maintain effective communication with NY Head office – Fabric procurement and Design team
Share company’s seasonal trend deck and fabric wish list by brands to fabric mills and come up with potential new materials, innovations that can align with company’s sourcing strategies, Price and Quality requirements
Work closely with fabric suppliers to understand their expertise, strength and weaknesses, improving their capabilities and build strong working relationships
Implement, monitor and review the internal work processes in accordance with the company’s sourcing policies (e.g. BCI, GRS, MMCF), Oeko-tex, PLM record
Collect and review FDS to ensure of correct and complete information, and callout at earliest stage of any quality concerns failing to meet company requirements
Follow up critical process of sample yardage ordering to ensure readiness for making proto /SMS samples timely
Assist the colorist and fabric mills in exceptions of color approval – making commercial decision
Work closely with internal Testing and QA team to solve any fabric issues
Able to identify risk and provide solutions for potential fabric issues
Assist in new mill on boarding processes - review mill profile, guide/train mills for fabric SOP
Attend fabric fairs and regular visit to fabric mills to bring in newness and market intelligence
Maintain the fabric library with important fabric specs and details.
Process knowledge of Spectrophotometer, Sustainability, Material Traceability
Requirements
DSE / Form 5 or above
For Managerial position, 8 years solid experiences in fabric field or trading company, at least 3 years at supervisory level is required.
Sound textile knowledge of fabric construction, production processes (weaving, knitting, dyeing, printing & finishing)
Well versed with US market and testing requirements
Good knowledge & working experiences of Denim is preferred
Good command of both written and spoken English, Chinese and Putonghua
Microsoft Office, Outlook are basic, preferable knowing PLM
Must be multi-tasking, detail oriented, and have excellent follow up skills, good judgement & decision making (with ability to get to the root cause analysis), communicate effectively with different counterparts
Good team player with positive mindset
Willing to travel
