Responsibilities
To ensure correct and complete information is filled on lab testing requests and validate in Lab test system
To sign off test reports in Lab Test system, and communicate with factories on failures and consult UK for exceptions
To screen bulk hangers regarding appearance and handfeel
To sign off wearer trial on fabric performance side, liaison with QA to assess garment is fit for purpose
Daily meeting with merchandising, PD and Sourcing team to review new development – provide technical risk assessment
Regular order progress meeting with merchandising – action on any potential delay related to fabric issues
To communicate with QA/merchandisers/garment factories/fabric mills to help to trouble-shooting fabric technical issues
To conduct mill evaluation and file into FIS system
Re-evaluate mills and information update into FIS system
To conduct pre-production meeting and manage adherence in setting standard
To assist colourists / factories in exceptions of colour approval – making commercial decision
To assist/support sub-office on fabric technical issues
To communicate with spinners/dyers/knitters/weavers/dyestuff/chemical suppliers on new technology (raw materials/techniques/design) and feed to sourcing, PD, merchandising team and UK technologist
To attend fabric fairs regionally to gain update fabric trend and feed back to the team
To assist inspection for mill who is not sure about NEXT standard by setting acceptance level
To assist technical trials and pilot run agreed in pre-production
To educate Q.C. staffs of suppliers on NEXT standard on colour, performance and quality
To communicate with UK technologists to resolve fabric issues to prevent late garment delivery
To input in lab dip stage in terms of performance with support from dyestuff and chemical suppliers
To educate sub-office new technical staff on the acceptance level of NEXT on colour & fabric performance
Requirements
DSE / Form 5 or above
Minimum 5 years working experience in fabric industry, with 1-2 year(s) in fabric mill / dye house is preferred
Familiar in all kinds of fabric testing standards
Strong communication skills with fabric mills, factories and merchandisers in trouble shooting for fabric technical and development issues
Good command of both spoken & written English
Immediately available is preferred
