The School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong has a worlk-class, research-led and professionally connected learning environment. The School is now searching for a capable and self - motivated individual to fill the role of Workshop Technician.
As a member of the technical team, the appointee will be responsible for
- (a) assisting in the operation of tools and equipment in the Wood Workshop, preparing and updating operaional manuals, learning and upgrading the basic knowledge of equipment operation, and keeping the equipment in good order;
- (b) providing support to students, preparing a proper working environment for postgraduate/undergraduate students, and providing trainings to students on the use of the workshop;
- (c) assisting in workshop management, managing workshop renovation, bookkeeping of accessories and tools, and setting up a proper working environment;
- (d) managing routine workshop duties, checking and maintaining daily usage of general facilities in good order; and
- (e) handling purchasing matters, such as preparing purchasing documents for the procurement of new equipment, tools and consumables; and
- (f) undertaking other tasks as assigned by the School Director or his/her delegatd.
Applicants should have
- (i) a Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate or above;
- (ii) at least 3 years' related work experience; and
- (iii) good communication skills in both Chinese and English.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
