Responsibilities

• Lead a Hong Kong-based team of multi-level designers and 3D CAD artists to design and execute 'on-trend' knitwear collections tailored to specific brands each season

• Set seasonal design direction, color, and merchandising strategies to align with brand positioning and customer preferences

• Coordinate the timely execution of each stage of the design process to meet retailer needs while maintaining strong relationships with factories, suppliers, and designers

• Partner with the sales team to gain market insights and create an evolved knitwear collection that builds on best-sellers

• Develop innovative yarn blends and prioritize sustainability while driving newness

• Co-create with brand designers, communicating regularly via design share platforms, calls, and in-person meetings.

• Leverage 3D software and digitalized platforms to increase efficiency of design interpretation

• Conduct regular design presentations and reviews to socialize concepts and designs with internal and external stakeholders

• Identify new and emerging trends in the US knitwear market and translate them into commercially viable product offerings.

• Work closely with the production team to ensure seamless sampling and costing processes

• Travel to key markets, trade shows, and supplier visits to stay abreast of industry developments

• Mentor and develop the design team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• DSE / Form 5 or above

• Extensive experience in sweater/knitwear design, with a strong focus on the USA market across juniors, casual, and contemporary womenswear categories

• In-depth technical knitwear knowledge and experience working with mills to develop innovative yarn blends.

• Proven ability to identify global emerging trends in concept, stitch, pattern, and yarn, and provide directional trend-led leadership.

• Expertise in competitive analysis, market intelligence, and product development

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.

• Proficient in design/presentation software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, etc.)

• Strong project management skills and ability to lead a small design team.

• Technical understanding of flatbed knitting and fully fashioned machinery

• Native-level proficiency in English
