Complex Claims Management: Oversee and directly handle a portfolio of complex and high-value Property & Casualty insurance claims from initial notification through to final settlement.

Strategic Claim Resolution: Develop and implement strategies for proactive claim settlements through effective negotiation, mediation, and collaboration with legal counsel on litigation strategy.

Investigation & Assessment: Lead and conduct thorough investigations, including gathering and analyzing relevant information, documents, and evidence. Coordinate site inspections for damaged property or accident scenes to accurately assess loss or damage.

Team Support & Mentorship: Provide guidance, technical expertise, and mentorship to junior claims handlers, fostering their professional development and ensuring consistent claims handling standards.

Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all claims activities are meticulously documented and adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. May assist in internal audits or quality reviews.

Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze claims data to identify trends, monitor loss ratios, and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management.

Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for enhancing claims processes, systems, and operational efficiency. Lead or participate in ad hoc projects, including system development, testing, and implementation.

Stakeholder Management: Liaise effectively with policyholders, brokers, loss adjusters, legal counsel, and internal departments (e.g., Underwriting, Finance) to ensure smooth claims processing.

Deputizing (if applicable): May be required to assist or deputize for the Claims Manager in their absence or on specific initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree holder in Insurance, Law, Business, or a related discipline.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in handling Property & Casualty claims within the general insurance sector. Experience with large/complex claims is highly advantageous.

Leadership Potential: Demonstrated ability to guide or mentor junior team members is preferred.

Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance policies, coverage interpretation, relevant legislation, and advanced claim handling procedures.

Professional Qualifications: Holder of, or significant progress towards, professional insurance qualifications such as ANZIIF (Senior Associate/Fellow) or ACII is highly desirable. Must meet minimum local mandatory qualification requirements where relevant.
