Quantity Surveyor

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on plans and specifications.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to ascertain project requirements.
  • Create and manage project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial plans.
  • Monitor project expenses and provide financial reports to stakeholders.
  • Prepare tender documents and oversee the tendering process.
  • Evaluate tenders and make recommendations for contractor selection.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, handling claims and variations.
  • Implement cost control measures to monitor and manage project expenditures.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate project progress and identify potential cost overruns.
  • Analyze project costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings while upholding quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to optimize resource allocation.
  • Produce regular financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress and financial status to clients and management.
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and financial assessments for projects.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to align projects with budget and specifications.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing input on financial aspects.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in quantity surveying or a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Professional accreditation such as RICS or AQS is often preferred.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Work Environment: Typically office-based with regular visits to construction sites. Collaboration with various stakeholders including clients, contractors, and project managers may be necessary.
